Linking Theory 📕 to Practice
Here is a short article in the photos sharing the predominant theory that kicked off our Mental Health Project, Bearing Up. I have highlighted the part that focus on the impact in later life from not building our secure inner teddy bears when we are young. Children and adults who have suffered trauma and/or ACEs (adverse childhood experiences) are at greater risk of not having a secure inner teddy bear. Although it emphasises that these are usually built before the age of 1, it is never too late to build them and that is what our project aims to do! So let’s get building all our ‘inner teddy bear’ hearts! 💕
If you are interested in finding out more about attachment theory, take a look at Suzanne Zeedyk’s Book - ‘Sabre Tooth Tigers and Teddybears’ It’s a relatively small book and such and easy and worthwhile read. 🧸💖
